The over-all theme of the 2008 Asian Rural Women's Conference is Rights, Empowerment and Liberation. Under the main theme are focal themes based on issues, experiences and perspectives of rural and indigenous women in Asia. Under each theme are briefing papers that can be used as points for debate and discussion. The intention is that the working documents will continue to be refined with the aim of consolidating local and national situations, building upon the experiences, lessons, and aspirations of rural women's movements and other formations.
