On 1st May when workers of the world celebrate International Labour Day, Committee for Asian Women joins in extending greetings and solidarity to all workers, especially women workers, to all defenders of rights of workers, to trade unions and human rights organisations all over the world. CAW extends solidarity to all its 43 member organisations in Asia.
Coinciding with May Day, CAW launches its WAGE CAMPAIGN 2008 which calls for decent work, which includes
- minimum wage standard that takes into account inflation
- secure employment
- paid holidays
- health and safety at work
- education, housing, health and childcare provisions
- social security and welfare benefits
- no child labour
Increasingly as migrant workers join the labour force in many Asian countries we call for the protection of decent work for migrants and informal workers.
This is a day of inspiration and hope to stand firm in our fight for the rights of workers. On May Day as workers all over the world march in strength and solidarity for the struggles for the basic rights for workers we;
Salute defenders and fighters for workers rights!
Call for solidarity and unity of all workers!
Call for the resistance against exploitation and suppression of workers!
Fight for the rights of women workers!
Fight for the rights of migrant workers!
Long Live Workers' Unity
