Vrunda is a woman of courage and of determination. She broke free from the shackles of poverty by freeing her mind and spirit that life is not one that is given to her when she was born but rather, one that what she can make out of it. Being interested in social work, and with support from her family, she entered politics so that she could continue her work. Even though she faced a lot of harassment during the election, she was undeterred and continued to be active in politics, even protesting against corruption in political parties. She became instrumental in providing basic services to the community such as water access, health facilities, providing nutritious food to the anganawadi (school for small children), environmental awareness thru tree planting, securing jobs, pensions and other services to many families. Vrunda was especially vocal and raised awareness on the impact of violence against women, even staging street plays, speaking in forums and providing counseling to victims.
