"I feel that all women should be liberated from all atrocities and violence."
Mrs. Renuka is an elected woman representative of the Grama Panchayat, elected as member in 2005 and again in 2010. Despite the challenges she had to face, of being harassed, deserted and humiliated, she conquered and won the elections. To ensure that women's voices are heard, she was able to motivate other women to file their nominations in the Panchayat, supported them in making caste certificates, and conducted leadership workshops for women on voters' awareness in the electoral process. She also channeled her work in supporting the development of her community as an elected G.P. member by raising awareness on the value of education as an important tool in eradicating violence done against women. In areas where women have no economic power, she facilitated in providing jobs, access to drinking water and health services. She has shown leadership and confidence in asserting the rights of women in her community for which she has been recently awarded as a "Progressive Farming Woman" by the State.
