Having attended a Dalit Rights training organised by Tamil Nadu Dalit Women's Movement (TNDWM), K. Rajamani set out to share what she learned and educated the Dalit women of her community. She is successful for bringing at least thirty (30) other women to participate in the training. Being a Dalit meant having no political voice and power. But K. Rajamani surpassed all ridicules, harassment, and threats towards her and she was still able to pull almost six thousand (6000) votes in an election despite running as an independent candidate. She has also filed a defamation case and forced an editor to give a public apology for critising her as being a Dalit woman candidate in the elections. The bold and daring approaches in testing existing paradigms in her society has inspired and empowered other Dalits, especially the women in her district and the State of Tamil Nadu to assert their rights.
