As a Female Community Health Volunteer, Lila Kumari Thapa is very active and committed in raising awareness to improve maternal and child health care. She does this through creative means, such as staging drama plays, song competitions and quiz contests. She also managed to establish an emergency fund for maternal and child health care. Her leadership under the women's group Namuna Swastha helped save mothers and newborns in Bhimphedi village. Once, she personally collected money from her neighbours to raise funds for a newly-birthed mother who needed immediate hospital care. Her initiative to manage an outreach clinic proves her dedication and selflessness in improving the lives of children and mothers, as well as asserting women's rights.
