Ms. Jiwanti Poudel is the President of Women Awareness Forum for Social Change- Nepal (WAFS-Nepal) since 2003. She also became the president of Women Human Rights Defenders Network. She had been involved in activities with various organisations focussing to bring about positive changes in the lives of marginalised, freed Kamaiyas, landless, women victims of disaster/conflict and communities. She likewise has prioritised working in empowering rural women by making them aware of their rights and by giving them legal protection and education on various issues including women and children's health.

She has participated in different trainings on gender, leadership, education, environment, among others. Apart from that, she has attended many workshops and trainings both in the national and regional level to arm her causes and advocacies.
