From someone who married young and who suffered domestic violence, Jamman Devi learned from these difficult experiences and realised that women should not be subjected to such harsh treatment. As she became part of Mahila Swastha Adhikar Manch (MSAM), she became aware of her rights, especially on health and women's rights. She also campaigned and organised women to participate and get involved in the Women's Health and Rights Forum. Her efforts resulted in women asserting their rights to access health services as an example. Jamman Devi, as leader of MSAM, has been helping and supporting pregnant women, and other impoverished sectors to basic health services, accesss to medicines and hospital care. Being a brave and empowered woman, Jamman Didi (Didi is sister in English) emerged victorious and today she sets to be an example for many such women in her village.
