Hameeda Khaskheli worked hard to become a teacher despite the poverty she grew up in. As an educator, she advocated and raised awareness about the value of education. She even used her own money to send poor girls to school. An active member of Sindh Graduate Association, she was able to advocate for the basic right to education and for the employment of the people of Sindh. She conducted activities which includes training, campaigns, fact-finding missions, research, among others and have continuously worked with peasant groups, workers, women, minorities and local level government officials, media, teachers, students, lawyers and other NGOs and community-based organisations.
She strives for gender equality in the society and provides legal support and medical aid to women who were victims of violence and social taboos. She also advocated against marrying at an early age, which helped women to be more aware of their rights. Eventually, she involved men in her trainings in order to educate them on women's rights. Dr. Hameeda also worked for women's economic rights by advocating and lobbying for a formation of a committee that would look into revising the law prohibiting women from owning lands and inheriting from their parents. Through her efforts, five (5) women were already given their share.
