Coming from her experience of violence and forced confinement, Dev Kumari Mahara courageously faced and fought for her rights and for the rights of other women. Once, she was abducted by armed men for standing up for the rights of a rape victim. "I still remember that day with full of guns on my head and I was alone. I was thinking that it was the last day of my life." She defied the odds, risked the threats of kidnapping, murder and harassment and continues to fight for justice, reforms and rights of women. She continues to actively campaign against violence on women and defending their rights.
