Chameli did not let fear control her. The violence that Chameli experienced at home and from her husband challenged her to do her best. She empowered herself in the process. She has asserted her right to have a citizenship card, even when her husband refused to let her have it in his name. She now sets out to influence and educate other women as a Female Community Health Volunteer and is fully engaged in social work by sharing her experiences and knowledge with other women. She had also taken the initiative to construct a bridge for school children which was named after her - Chameli Bridge.
